What are you financing?
Start with the transaction lenders will examine.
Understand the earnings, the debt, and what remains after the purchase.
Borrower-controlled. No lender or partner sees your file.
Active. Adjust a scenario. See what changes.
Concrete. Leave with a private Record of questions and actions.
The seven-check engine
Not a score. A way to see your deal.
Each check answers one question about your deal in plain language.
Can the business carry the payments?
What the system compares
Cash available ÷ annual debt service.
Your next move
Separate recurring earnings from assumptions. Then test the proposed payment against what the business can actually support.
The seven-check engine
Not a score. A way to see your deal.
A ratio alone tells you very little. Each check answers one question about your deal in plain language: what it means, why it matters, and what you can do next.
For an acquisition, the checks frame around the earnings you are buying and the debt that pays for them.
PreFlight my applicationSeven-check engine
One financial picture. Seven connected questions.
Educational overview. Results depend on verified inputs; missing evidence stays incomplete. No loan approval is predicted or implied.
An illustrative acquisition
The same deal. A clearer question.
Annual debt payments: $470K. Now test one assumption: a $70K add-back.
- Cash available for debt service
- $620K
- Cushion above payments
- $150K
This is the figure the Seller presented, and the evidence holds it up.
Illustrative scenario only. The system separates add-back tiers; it does not validate professional QoE conclusions or predict approval.
The Borrower's Due Diligence
The entrepreneur becomes the borrower.
Every calculator offers a DSCR. A ratio is not due diligence. Lender underwriting runs on best practices built across thousands of files, and at this size the bank is not the only party at risk: the guarantee carries your signature, and the payments outlive the closing. Borrowing changes the title, and it is a role you will play again. PreFlight is the preparation for that role: your own due diligence, run privately, on the same questions, before the file changes hands.
The acquisition.
For an acquisition, the checks frame around the earnings you are buying and the debt that pays for them.
The deal changes. The seven checks don't.
Prepared by the Seller. Guaranteed by the Buyer.
The Seller’s job is to present the strongest numbers the file can hold. That is selling, not dishonesty. The Buyer’s position is different. Your signature goes on the personal guarantee, and the payments outlive the closing. Before the file changes hands, the Buyer gets the same clear look at the earnings the Seller already has.
Quality of Earnings asks one question: is the reported profit supported and repeatable? It is usually asked later, by someone else, at professional prices. PreFlight asks the first questions privately, while the answers can still change the decision.
Not a replacement for your CPA or a professional QoE report. A better starting point: yours.
The difference is who holds the decision
| Aspect | PreFlight first | Handoff without private screening |
|---|---|---|
| The numbers | Questions you can explore | Documents assembled to submit |
| The assumptions | Visible tiers, tested sensitivity | Unresolved, still in the file |
| The next move | A prioritized list of actions | Questions that surface after handoff |
| The record | Yours to keep, yours to share | Selected documents, submitted |

SBA SOP 50 10 8.1 adds independent QoE requirements for certain 7(a) acquisitions and expansions with a business purchase price of $3M or more. Owner buyouts and ESOP or cooperative transactions are excluded. Confirm applicability with your qualified advisers. Whether or not the rule reaches your deal, understanding the earnings is your due diligence too.
